Our Core Values

The Core Values of the California Staff Organization comprise the shared beliefs of our membership. We will strive to embrace, live, nurture, and reinforce these Core Values in our endeavors as members of CSO. It is the following Core Values that we honor.

Solidarity

We recognize our role in the labor movement. We will honor, respect, and support our CSO siblings. We commit to showing concern and empathy for each other. We value each other’s individuality, experiences, and ideas, just as we affirm our commitment to act collectively.

Relationships

We will strengthen our union through building relationships that value honesty, trust, and interpersonal engagement with our CSO siblings. We commit to proactively develop and maintain relationships by being direct and considerate with each other in order to achieve our shared goals.

Equity / Social Justice

We will intentionally build systems and structures to ensure everyone has access to resources, knowledge, and power while simultaneously dismantling those that inflict harm. We commit to practices that are inclusive, reflective and engage all members. We will contribute to our union and society through individual and collective commitments to social progress.

Commitment to Public Education

We will work in partnership with members of the California Teachers Association and other coalitions and partners to support, protect and enhance our public schools. We believe that all educational employees should be accorded the respect, support, and resources they deserve. We will advocate for public education that transforms the lives of all students.
